I am not being paid by Ergobaby, nor did they give me a carrier for free. This is an honest review about the Ergobaby with Infant Insert that I purchased with my own money.
I was REALLY excited about getting the Ergobaby because I had heard so many good things about it. As soon as I got enough gift cards I ran out and bought the Galaxy Grey Ergo with the matching insert. This was before Elora was even born.
When she came home I found that I didn't know quite how to use the infant insert with the Ergo, and also that she was quite slumpy and squishy and she seemed to get lost in the thick insert. It's padded, almost like a blanket and there's a pillow for them to sit in. You can even buckle the insert closed so it wraps around the baby more. Now that I'm more experienced, I think that I could use the Ergo earlier.
I loved using the Ergo and infant insert at around 2 months. By then she had a little more head control. The Ergo became our go-to carrier because it was so easy to use (didn't require all that wrapping).

It seemed to have sleepy dust, all I had to do was wrap her in the insert and sometimes she'd fall asleep before I even got the carrier buckled! I could then transfer her in the infant insert to the pack-n-play and she'd snooze away.
I think we used the infant insert much longer than we needed to, simply because winter was cold and the insert was warm plus I liked how I could flip the back up and it supported her head. It was much easier to put her in the Ergo in the car than the wrap. The Ergo has a sleep hood, but with the insert I could still see her head and make sure she was breathing okay. When she didn't have a lot of head control I was really concerned about that (first time mom syndrome).
When she outgrew the insert back and the weather was warmer I ditched the insert and just used the pillow. I like how the pillow raised her up because the Ergo seemed to swallow her.
I really liked the Ergo, the pocket in front is very convenient. I'd just put my wallet, phone and keys in the pocket in front and I was hands-free in all of the stores! Elora seemed to really enjoy being in the carrier as well. I like the hood and the fact that it can support the head when sleeping or keep the sun off. It's easy to snap on the shoulders.
I don't care for the fact that the hood is supposed to tuck into the front pocket or just hang there. It never stays tucked in the pocket and it is annoying to have it flapping around in the wind. I wish Ergo had made a zipper compartment for the hood.
After hanging around the babywearing facebook pages I learned about suck pads. As soon as Elora began teething she liked to suck on the straps. It's not harmful to her, but it makes the carrier dirty and stinky and the carriers are not meant to be washed a lot as it breaks them down faster. I made my suck pads from some fabric I had laying around and PUL (waterproof). I even added little taggies on the bottom for her to play with, and they also hold toys.

I wore her in the Ergo EVERYWHERE. I even wore her at C2E2 (Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo) where we dressed up as Mario and a 1up Mushroom. That was the first time I wore her all day, and my shoulders and back did get very sore.
It doesn't fit my small frame perfectly though, the waist is big and the shoulders seem really wide, even with it cinched in the back. A vlogger showed how you can cross the straps in the back, and I think next time I am wearing her for long periods of time I will cross the straps.
Our Ergo has gotten a lot of use, and I have to say that I really like it and would recommend it to anyone as a good carrier for the price (I paid about $140 for the carrier and the infant insert at Buy Buy Baby.
